Speech-"unta" During the TOIESY Awards Night

This was supposed to be my acceptance speech if only I didn't fell 1 step towards getting the Top 1 Award during the Search for the Most Outstanding IE Student of the Year 2009...whew! It was truly a wonderful experience. CIT IE family rocks! Kumbati ta!
Anyweiz, I just want to share this one to my friends specially to the ones mentioned here. hehe...

“Aspire rather to be a hero than merely appear like one." Baltasar Gracian says. Tonight as we celebrate the making of tomorrow’s heroes, this recognition I humbly accept. And I would gladly share this honor with the people, who in several ways became a part of this sweet victory. They are real heroes in their own ways.
Firstly, my fellow IE students, classmates and friends, thank you so much! You’re undoubtedly a major factor of what I’ve become today. You touched my life as you let me touch yours. We share common smiles, grief and amazepment in our wonderful experiences in the IE life. We celebrate our diversity by making it as an opportunity to widen our horizons and become better individuals. Uhmm, special mention to my friends, (ATura, Maeloz, MAbastas, MBrusas, VGo, JDihayco, GTamarra, and JDumoran) I want you to know that I consider you my dearest friends. Though sometimes, misunderstanding plagues our friendship but our value for each other always prevails. I hope this shall live through our lives onwards. It has been said, “Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are”. Now, you can tell me who my friends are….
To our teachers and mentors in the IE Dept., Engr. GG Arias, Engr. N.H Corbeta, Engr. Arivero and our dept Head, Engr. AB Navares. You should believe it when I say, you are truly our heroes!! When I entered college, I was not that certain of what must I become today until I realized in the 2nd semester of my 1st year that I belong in the IE family. That was a realization that has become a reality of me unbtil now as I am standing here in front of you. The point in time when I made the decision to spend my college life with the CIT IE family was a major turning point in my life; it could have make or break me. But there goes these gallant servants for education, who made the decision worth the while and assured me that the path I am into is a path that I can be at my best. Despite the number of the faculty member of the IE Dept., I can firmly attest that QUALITY is not directly related with quantity. For those who have no direct knowledge about these heroes, I can’t tell you enough about them. It’s best if you choose what I’ve chosen 5 years ago and experience the incomparable IE LIFE.
Now, let me take this opportunity to proudly introduce to you one real superhero for me, my NANAY. Her name is Anecita. She’s one of the persons I truly look up to. Just like other mothers perhaps, my NANAY has perfectly demonstrated to me and my family what true and unconditional love is. So that the world may know, my NANAY is truly human but she just has the qualities of a super human. (hehe) “Nay, you’ve been through a lot in this life for us, thank you is not enough, my life is not enough to repay you; but I commit that whatever I shall I do with this life today and tomorrow, must give you honor so that the world may see through me how great a mother you are. Nay, I love you and this victory is your victory too.”
Lastly, my Lord Jesus Christ; I owe everything to You. I offer all these to Him. He’s always been my ultimate provider of formidable strength with everything I’ve been through in life. This, I believe, is true to each one of us. I thank Him for my friends, my teachers and mentors, my family and for everything that he allowed to happen in my life, they molded me as what He desires me to be.

And to all thank you very much! Let’s all aspire to be heroes in our own lives and see how the world changes through a change in ourselves.

God blessed me! God bless you all and God bless the CIT IE family more! Have a great life starting tonight.

The Search for the Most Outstanding IE Student of the Year 2009

Voila!!! this is my first post. It has been several days without posts. hehe.At last!

This is about the Search for the Most Outstanding IE Student of the Year 2009 (TOIESY) in CIT; which I participated now. Here are some of the questions being asked as a preliminary...

Who do you personally look up to? Why?

I have 3 persons that I actually look up to. If their finest characteristics are to be collated, it can be an epitome of a perfect human.

First and foremost, my mother, Anecita for her unconditional capacity to love and formidable spirit to fight amidst life’s quandary. She has been practically the pillar and the light of my family, though a woman.

Then, I look up to our very own IE department head, Engr. AB Navares for his unrelenting passion for excellence in everything he does. It’s just so amazing how he manages numerous responsibilities with flying colors.

Third, I’ve just recently known the life of a Cebuano business tycoon named John Gokongwei Jr. His character of discipline, persistence, hard work and Faith brought him from “rags-to-riches”. He’s one of the richest Filipinos nowadays and at the same time a leading philanthropist in Asia. He is simply a Cebuano; a Filipino ought to be cloned..c”,
This trio is just worth emulating.

If you have a superpower, what will it be and how would you use it?

It would be so great to have the power to know exactly what will happen in the future. But, I believe it’s just for God so I’ll just choose to have the power of healing. To fulfill our life’s mission, it is important to be physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually well. I want to have the power of healing different types of sickness so that my family, friends and my fellowmen would be truly wealthy because good health is true wealth.

If one thing certain about life is death then what is the point of living?

Life for me is a gift that we ought to cherish beyond death. As long as we live each day of our lives without regrets then it would be like, life has no end. According to the Dalai Lama, the purpose of life is to be happy and to be useful in every way you can. A useless life is like death itself. Moreover, to make this only life worthwhile, it has to be lived not only for oneself but for others too. In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

What could be your invention that might change entirely the history of mankind?

An ultimate medicine for cancer would be a great invention or a discovery, I believe. Cancer for very long has claimed lives of people not worthy to suffer of such. People who are victims of this disease are helpless, since no matter what they do cancer survives over them. With the invention of its cure, lives will be changed, more lives shall be saved and that would be a very meaningful feat in my life. I would feel like to have lived a hundred lives.

If your life is a book, what is written on page 99?

I don’t know what page 99 signifies in this question, if it’s the end or a middle page. But since it’s specially specified, that page would also contain the names of special and important people who in one way or another contribute to the person I am and I will become. It’s a page recognizing the indelible mark they left in my life.

My Personal Message to the IE students:

“To my fellow would-be IEs, I have contemplated in my 5 years of being an IE student that the path we choose is not more of a career for us to earn a living or to improve our status in life, it is an opportunity for us to tailor the way we live to the purpose that God designed for us.

Being an IE is an opportunity to be better in the way we live; and thus becoming a better citizen for a better future of the Philippines. Vamos CIT IEs!”
